On February 28, Viewpoint School hosted Georgetown’s Laboratory for Global Performance & Politics. The Lab is a joint initiative between the Walsh School of Foreign Service and Georgetown College. It is made up of artists, policy experts, activists, educators, and students who believe in the power of live performance to provoke empathy, break down stereotypes, and shed light on global challenges. The “I Pledge Allegiance” performance that was given through the perspective of immigrants explored the complex ideas American identity, race, religion and heritage.

According to the Lab’s co-founder, Cynthia Schneider, “The lab invites students to apply their whole selves – their past, their present, their emotions, their knowledge, and their analytical capacities – to understanding and tackling the world we live in and their place in it. I Pledge Allegiance is the perfect example of this approach.”
