The biggest Sunday of the year is coming up, and here’s everything you need to know. Sunday, February 11, at 3:30 p.m., the San Francisco 49ers are taking on the Kansas City Chiefs in the 58th Super Bowl. The Super Bowl will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and will be on CBS, Paramount+, and YouTube TV.
The 49ers:
This year the 49ers are 14-5 and were 1st in the NFC West, along with being the 1st seed, having home-field advantage. Their first playoff game was the Divisional Round against the Packers. They won 24-21. Their second game was the NFL Conference Championship against the Detroit Lions. They won by 3 points again, 34-31. This weekend, they are favored to win. However, they have been practicing at UNLV, and Kyle Shanahan, the head coach of the 49ers, is displeased with the field. The team has complained of the field being too soft, and they are concerned about not being able to get their footing, leading to injury.
The Chiefs:
This year, the Kansas City Chiefs are 14-6 and finished 1st in the AFC West. Their playoff journey started in the Wild Card Round at home against the Dolphins, beating them 26-7. Then, the Chiefs were away for the first time in quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ playoff career for the Divisional Round. They beat the Bills 27-24. Then, the Chiefs took on the #1 seed the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore. They won 17-10. The Chiefs were underdogs in both the Bills and Ravens games, yet they prevailed. The Super Bowl will be no different, they are underdogs yet again, but given that they have overcome this twice, don’t count them out.
