The new show Calabasas has been bought by Netflix with the intention of production. The show will be based on the book If You Lived Here You’d be Famous by Now: True Stories from Calabasas. This book follows the life of a sheltered, Catholic, girl transferring to Calabasas High School who has to adjust to the unique lifestyle of Calabasas and the Los Angeles areas. Feeling that she doesn’t belong, we see a deep dive into her experience with the stereotypical lifestyle that comes with the Calabasas area and her isolation in these years. Highlighting the obscurities of her highschool using chapter titles such as “Kim Kardashian Stole My Salad,” “The One Direction Essay,” and “the $18 Million Dollar Sandbox,” the show is sure to stir up conversations in the commons. With Emma Roberts (known for American Horror Story) Kim Kardashian (known for being kim kardashian) and Marlene King (the creator of Pretty Little Liars), set to be producers, it will be interesting to see the portrayal of a Calabasas lifestyle on television (without the Kardashian filter.)
