Lily and I (Ford) were discussing the Met Gala when we came into class after it took place. However, the more we talked, the more we realized we had strong opinions about the outfits and looks from the celebrities and designers. After realizing we were both professional met gala reviewers, we decided to go through all the looks from the 2024 met gala to come up with the worst and best dressed from the invite list. The met gala is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume institute in Manhattan. This fundraiser is known to be one of the most prestigious events with Anna Wintour creating an exclusive guest list of the highest regarded celebrities and fashion icons. This year a ticket to the Met Gala (if not formally invited) was $75,000 dollars. Every year has a theme and it differs each time per Anna Wintour’s vision. This year, the theme was Garden of Time. When we decided to rate the looks, we came up with a few measurable. First, how strong the outfit is related to the theme. Second, the construction and quality of the outfit. Third, the person’s hair and makeup. Finally, how the outfit looks when put all together. With all this being said, here are our top 10 best and worst looks from the 2024 met gala.
