Welcome to the 2025-26 school year! Convocation kicked us off on Friday, August 29th, where the entire Viewpoint School met to celebrate the start of the year. It started when the kindergarteners walked through a tunnel made by the 12th graders. Throughout this, a new bagpipes player put on an excellent performance to make their entrance even more memorable. Head of school Mr. Mckee talked about Viewpoints theme this year: excellence, followed by two students from each division across the school (2nd, 5th, 8th, 12th respectively) who shared their perspectives on excellence. These speeches had a commonality in that they all agreed that excellence could mean different things for different people, and that excellence should not be relative to the skills and achievements of other people. Excellence could be anything as simple as not being a jerk. For the 2nd graders, it involved simply being able to meet the goals they set for themselves, such as organizing their backpack. Throughout the convocation the Viewpoint upper school choir performed 3 excellent songs (Lovely Day, Alma Mater, and Star Spangled banner). Now that the bagpipes have played out, the year is officially in full swing. Good luck to you all and have a good year!
