On Wednesdays we wear pink, and on April 17th -19th 2026 we watched Viewpoint Theater put on an amazing rendition of Mean Girls! Inspired by the 2004 film and the 2002 book Queen Bees and Wannabees, the musical focuses on Cady Heron, a teenage girl who moved from her home and home schooling life in Africa, as she experiences public school for the first time. The hit musical coming to Viewpoint was a highly anticipated event with all three shows selling out, and it did not disappoint.
Senior Megan Shaw, a proud member of the Viewpoint Conservatory, has been in every Viewpoint Upper School musical since her freshman year, took center stage as Cady Heron. When asked what the theater program has meant to her, she said it “has meant a lot to me and it’s the reason why I want to continue pursuing theatre in college.”
Though many believe leading roles are reserved for upperclassmen, it was 9th grader Payton Saxer-Papariella who landed the role of Regina George. When talking with her, Saxer-Papariella said “Regina was [her] dream role”, and that she has “never felt happier, more confident, or more supported”.
After the incredible performance with Lucy Lee’s hilarious portrayal of Janis Ian combined with Julian Thicke’s fun and flamboyant performance as Damian as well as dance numbers choreographed by our very own Chloe Brendle and Gemma Harari, all seniors involved in the production – backstage crew and actors – were honored on stage to thank them for all of their dedication throughout their high school years.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of mean girls – it was so fetch!
